about

This cue was first composed for Wing Commander I for the Origin F/X introduction logo sequence. It was subsequently reused in “Wing Commander II”, “Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire” and “Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2 - Martian Dreams”.

Herman Miller tells us, “I wrote an early version of it which was just the piano part, and George Sanger wrote the final theme."

George Sanger elaborates, “That makes perfect sense, what Herman said. Fits my memory well. I don't think I started with “nothing,” but I do remember writing and polishing something.”

Since Wing Commander II reuses many of the cues from this first title in the series, Martin Galway’s musical design notes for the sequel include brief notes on how each of the cues were used in Wing Commander I. Therefore, for the logo, the design notes read, “Origin F/X introduction”.
