George Sanger explains the inspiration of this cue, “Govett wrote the fanfare and dogfight music as our first submission to Origin. The music had been playing in his head since high school, inspired by movies and classical music--he had no idea it would be for a game then. So that was probably motivating how he put it in the MT-32--as a movie tune. And we just wanted to impress Chris Roberts and get/keep the gig/client. Also, the idea of the music being interactive hadn't come up yet.”

There are two versions of this cue. The only noticeable difference between version A and B is that the segment from 1:33~2:00 in version A has been shortened to run only from 1:33~1:45 in version B, and some intermittent percussion has been added to the segment that still remains. While the full length version does not appear in the actual game, it was present in the self-running demo.
