"It helps me to have lyrics in my head when I'm coming up with a melody. In this case, it became irresistible to record those lyrics so that somebody else might get a smile from it.

"We had no idea that there would be a 'Wing Commander II,' that was just a premonition, a hope, and a nice rhyme (like the 'Grammy' line in _Welcome to the Zoo_). And speaking of trivia, the idea of ending a line with 'brave boys' came from the strong influence of the Limeliters version of the sea chanty _The Ballad of Grace Darling_, which I used to listen to as a kid--a lot.

"Thanks to Govett for his orchestration skills, which were always pretty sick, especially for the time before that was a word you'd use in a nice way."
