Hi, I’m SomeRandomHEFan, the creator of the ScummVM packs for George Sanger’s Humongous Entertainment soundtracks. For those who don't know, those packs let you hear Team Fat's music in full fidelity while you play your favorite Humongous games.
When HE received the music for Putt-Putt Saves The Zoo, they added animal sounds to many of its tracks to enhance their atmosphere. But almost none of those edits are in the remastered soundtrack.
I discussed that with Tim the Curator in September 2022. He theorized that since many of HE’s sound effects are from royalty-free libraries, restoring them could be possible. Further research fully confirmed that.
And so I spent over a year locating the sounds, recreating strange edits (the toughest one was ironically a simple cricket sound), placing them at the right spots and applying effects where needed.
I'm very proud of the results. With all these new sounds, the zoo feels more alive than ever. Over the course of this project, listening to the tracks I'd already finished played a big role in keeping me motivated to continue, both so that I could hear more of them and so that others could also one day see the game's soundtrack in a whole new light. I'm glad that day has finally come.

It's always a joy and often a surprise when I hear of how deep an impression this music seems to have made on people. And when fans pick up the yoke and start doing the work, it's downright amazing, and on rare occasions pretty darned impressive. I'm looking at you, SomeRandomHEFan--and of course staring right at Tim the Curator!
I was sceptical of the idea that adding sound effects was going to make for a significantly different listening experience, but I stand corrected. This loving recreation of the game's atmosphere pulls you right in. Or I should say, it pulls me right in, and suddenly I'm playing my favorite HE game with my family once more. Big Zoo Feels. It's nice.
So why don't you give it a listen and let us know if it does the same for you. And if it does, share a Team Fat High Five with SomeRandomHEFan, Tim the Curator, and the rest of my best buddies, Team Fat.
Thanks for sticking with us, folks.
Love,
